Social media comes with its own set of challenges for pharmaceutical brands. Regulatory restrictions limit many standard advertising tactics, while audiences expect useful, trustworthy content rather than direct promotion.

Mibe Ukraine partnered with MixDigital to build a stronger social media presence for Dekristol® D3 / Dekristolvit® D3, a German-made pharmaceutical product line.

The goal was to build a consistent social media presence that would increase brand awareness, strengthen associations with German quality, and support the brand’s long-term position in the vitamin D category.

Here’s how we helped the brand move beyond occasional posting and build a more consistent social media presence through a clear content strategy, refreshed visuals, and regular communication.

Context and Challenges

Category Analysis

We started by analyzing the competitive landscape and how brands in the vitamin D category communicate on social media.

The research showed that most brands in the category lacked a consistent social media presence. Manufacturers typically promoted these products through their corporate accounts rather than building dedicated brand pages.

At the same time, audiences showed strong interest in vitamin D, preventive health, and healthy lifestyles. Yet most category communication focused on product features and rarely moved beyond product-specific information.

For Dekristol® D3 / Dekristolvit® D3, this created an opportunity to build a stronger presence in the category through consistent content and direct brand communication. Instead of relying mainly on product-focused messaging, the brand could build long-term audience engagement through educational, lifestyle, and wellness content.

Challenges

At the start of our partnership, the brand needed to move from individual communication activities to a more consistent approach to social media.

This meant:

  • creating a clear content structure;
  • building regular communication with the audience;
  • refreshing the visual approach across social media;
  • defining the role of different content types within the overall brand communication.

The pharmaceutical category added another layer of complexity. The team had to work within several regulatory constraints:

  • no direct product recommendations;
  • no promises of specific outcomes;
  • all communication had to comply with the requirements of the pharmaceutical category.

We also had to account for differences across the product line, including age restrictions for specific formats, dosage specifics, and contexts of use in line with product instructions.

So the task went beyond content creation. We needed to build a recognizable and consistent social media presence that met pharmaceutical communication requirements while remaining useful and relevant to the audience.

Strategy

The strategy centered on useful content that allowed the brand to engage with its audience regularly while moving beyond purely product-focused communication.

We identified key audience segments, defined the brand’s tone of voice, and developed a content structure that combined expert information, practical value, and lifestyle topics.

Instead of leading with product messaging, the communication focused on topics that helped people better understand the role of vitamin D, develop healthier habits, and make everyday well-being part of their routine.

To bring the strategy to life, the team:

  • developed the content strategy and a system of recurring content pillars;
  • refreshed the visual style of the social media pages;
  • established a consistent content production process;
  • supported key posts with paid promotion.

Execution

Content Pillars

To make the communication more consistent and recognizable, we developed a set of recurring content series:

  • “Choose the Best” — product-focused content covering different formats, dosages, and features across the product line;
  • “Healthy Tips” — useful content about healthy habits and prevention;
  • “Dekristol for Kids” — content for parents focused on the children’s product line;
  • “Breakfast” — lifestyle content around healthy morning habits and self-care.

This structure made the content more varied, recognizable, and consistent.

Content Directions

1. Educational Content

We used educational content to answer common questions about vitamin D and make the topic easier to navigate.

The posts covered its role in the body, dosage considerations, common myths, and frequent mistakes around its use.

2. Product Content

Product communication remained an important part of the content mix, but without an overly promotional approach.

The content introduced audiences to different product formats and dosages, explained key features across the range, and highlighted the brand’s German origin.

3. Healthy Lifestyle Content

Another content direction focused on healthy habits and everyday well-being.

Topics included nutrition, active lifestyles, morning routines, and daily self-care.

This allowed the brand to move beyond product-only communication and become part of a broader health and wellness conversation.

4. Content for Parents

Content for parents focused on the children’s product line and the questions most relevant to family audiences.

The messaging reflected different product formats, age guidance, and instructions for use, while remaining compliant with pharmaceutical communication standards.

Visual System

Refreshing the brand’s visual language was another important part of the project.

We moved away from the more conventional visual approach often seen in pharmaceutical communication and shifted toward a warmer health and wellness aesthetic.

The team:

  • increased the use of custom photography;
  • introduced more lifestyle scenes;
  • placed the product in natural, everyday settings.

The new visual system was built around:

  • a light, warm color palette;
  • minimalist infographics;
  • family and everyday-life scenarios;
  • a stronger focus on self-care and healthy habits.

As a result, the brand retained its expert positioning while becoming more approachable and easier for the audience to relate to.

Content Production

To keep the communication consistent, we set up an ongoing content production process.

Each month, the team produced:

  • 12 posts;
  • 16 Stories;
  • custom photography;
  • designed social assets;
  • video content.

We also promoted key content through Meta to expand reach and bring in new audiences.

Additional Engagement Tactics

The team also proposed several additional ways to grow and engage the community, including giveaways, influencer marketing, and brand partnerships.

At this stage, product giveaways have already been tested. They helped increase activity on the page and attract new followers.

Insights

As the project developed, we found that content around skin health generated particularly strong audience interest.

These posts consistently ranked among the strongest performers for both reach and engagement. Based on this insight, we increased the share of content at the intersection of health, beauty, and everyday wellness habits.

Results

Over the course of the partnership, we:

  • built a consistent brand communication system;
  • introduced recurring content pillars;
  • refreshed the visual style across social media;
  • adapted communication to the requirements of the pharmaceutical category;
  • established ongoing content production and paid promotion.

As a result, the brand moved from occasional social media activity to a structured communication approach with a clear content system and recognizable visual identity.

Dekristol® D3 / Dekristolvit® D3 has shown steady audience growth, while its content regularly reaches hundreds of thousands of users each month through a combination of organic content and paid promotion.

The project demonstrates how a structured social media approach can help brands build awareness, maintain audience interest, and develop a long-term digital presence even in categories with strict communication and regulatory requirements.

For pharmaceutical brands, getting attention is only part of the job. The real challenge is communicating clearly while staying within industry requirements. Working with MixDigital helped us move beyond day-to-day social media support and build a more structured approach to brand communication. The team took the time to understand our product portfolio, helped us organize the content more effectively, and gave us a clearer way to engage with our audience. As a result, our social media communication became more consistent and recognizable.
